TRANSPORT AND ACCOMMODATIONS

International

Land: There is no central bus terminal in Lima. Each bus company has its own station. Buses are of good quality and tickets are very reasonably priced. Two of the major companies are:
Ormeño www.grupo-ormeno.com.pe (Operates in most countries in South America)
Cruz del Sur www.cruzdelsur.com.pe (Operates between Lima and Buenos Aires and to all major destinations in Peru)
Please take care in the areas around the bus stations.

Air: Lima airport (Jorge Chavez) is situated 16km northwest of Lima. Services and facilities include information desks, post office, telecommunications, banks, moneychangers, left-luggage, medical facilities and restaurants.

Several international flights often arrive in the evening, which can involve delays in clearing immigration: an important consideration when planning connections. A departure tax of U.S.$30.25 is applicable to all foreigners when departing from Lima airport on international flights and U.S.$5.84 for national flights.

Passports and Visas
A passport that is valid for 6 months is required to enter Peru. Many tourists are granted tourist visas for either 90 or 183 days upon arrival but please check with your embassy for specific requirements.

National

Lima
Located on the central coast of Peru, Lima is both the capital and largest city in Peru. With a population of ten million, Lima plays host to a third of Peru’s inhabitants. The Plaza de Armas is the historic center of the city surrounded by the Government Palace, town hall, and cathedral. A host of museums, historical sites, restaurants, theatres and shopping centers await the visitor.

Airport Transfers
For your safety, we use our own taxi driver in Lima to pick-up clients from the airport at their request and deliver them safely to their hotel, bus station or desired destination. All taxis operating from the airport tend to be on the expensive side. An average fare would be approximately 50 Nuevo Soles from the airport to the center and would take about 45 minutes. Heavy traffic in Lima can often cause delays.

Transport from Lima to Huaraz
There are several bus companies that operate between Lima and Huaraz. Three of the most frequently used companies are Cruz Del Sur, Oltursa and Movil Tours.
Services: Several buses daily including night buses.
Prices: Range from 50 Nuevo Soles for Economy class to 120 for VIP class with 180° reclining seats. Journey time: 7-9 hours
We can make reservations or purchase seats for you in advance. We offer a free pick-up service from the bus stations in Huaraz.

Huaraz
Local Transport
Huaraz is easy to negotiate on foot but should you require a taxi they are cheap and plentiful. Fares around town are between 5 – 10.00 Nuevo Soles. Always establish the fare beforehand and never allow anyone else to get into the taxi with you.
