Route: Trekking Huayhuash- Pisco Climb

DAY 1: HUARAZ- QUARTELWAIN VIA CHIQUIAN
This is our first day, after the breakfast in the hotel our guide will be going to pick up you to the hotel; we will start our travel at 8:00am. Approximately to the south east side of Huaraz City, along the road we will pass by Recuay Province and different district as Ticapampa, Catac and Conococha at 4100m. From here we will drive to the east side and Southeast to Chiquian Province at 3400m., where you can buy something or have early lunch, until here it takes about 3 hours, then we will go down for about 1 hour and then drive up to Llamac for about 1 hour more, during this travel we will observe the Mountains on the east side such as Ninashanca, Jirichanca, Yerupaja, etc. Arrive to Llamac around 12:00m at 3300m., and then we go on, along this route we will pass by the small village called Pocpa and small mine arriving to the camp site around 1:00 – 1:30 pm approximately. From here we will see the Ninashanc, Jirishanca, Huacrish and Rondoy Mountains in the south, overnight camping at 4200m.
DAY 2: QUARTELWAIN- CARHUACOCHA
Today is a long challenging day, because we have two passes and 21 kilometers of walk approximately. After having breakfast we go up toward the first pass Cacananpunta 4690m., we will walk for about 2 or 3 hours to get there, where we can see Condors (Andean bird) almost every day especially in the mornings. From the pass we walk down for about 2 hours more until Janca 4300m, and then we star walking up again to the next pass Carhuac or Yana Punta 4650, it will take us 2 or 2 and a half hour more; but before we will do a break to have a lunch on the way. Once we are on the second ass will be easy way down to our next Camping place called Carhuacocha, from here we can see mountains such as: Jirishanca chico and Grande, Yerupaja, Siula Grande; Carnicero and Jurao, we will sleep by the Carhuacocha Lake, this is very beautiful place from here you can see really impressive mountains.
DAY 3: CARHUACOCHA-HUAYHUASH
This day is a bit difficult because of the distance and the altitude, we will walk 14 kilometers and we will go over the Siula Punta Pass 4830 m., at beginning it is easy; but the last part is a little bit difficult before to get to Siula pass; after the pass it’s just down till Huayhuash camping place, the view during the walking day It’s fantastic and breathtaking, we will walk next to three lakes and very close to the impressive mountains (Jerupaja Grande and Chico, Siula Grande, Jirishanca, Carnicero and Jurao A & B).
Day 4: Huayhuash to Huanacpatay (Cuyoc) via Trapecio Pass 5010m
After the breakfast we start our walk around 8 AM towards the pass Trapecio Punta 5010m., in average is 3 hours walking to be there and when we are here we can get a wonderful view of the most mountains of Huayhuash and Raura mountain range and we can even touch the ice and snow walking up a bit, 100 meter to the right from the pass, then we start descending through a small trail and on the way down we well walk next to several lakes, one of them is called Huanacpaycocha with a nice turquoise colour till the Campsite Pampa Elefante (Huanacpatay) which is at 4490m. Overnight here at the foot of Cuyoc and Puscanturpa mount.
Day 5: Huanacpatay to Huayllapa Village via Santa Rosa Pass (5100 m)
This is one of the most beautiful day after Crahuacocha campsite in Huayhuash (walking slowly is between 8 to 9 hours), to the camping place which is Huayllapa village; but the view today is very nice especially from the pass (Santa Rosa 5100 m.), from there, we can see several mountains which belong to Huayhuash Mountain Range such as: Jerupaja, Siula Grande, Sarapo, Rasak, Jurao, Carnicero (Metzger in Deutsch), Rosario, Cuyoc, PumaRinri, Paria Ucro, Puka Gaga and lakes Sarapo cocha and Juarao and much more, from here on the way down we can also get a perfect view; after the pass is only down but a bit steep till Calinca valley where we have a break to have lunch before to keep going down to Huayllapa village, our camp site is inside of the village, here you can recharge the battery of your Camera, drink beer, take a shower and even sleep in a guess house, also you can walk around in the village and see their customs.
Day 6: Huayllapa Village to Gashpapampa
Today our first 3 hours hike is a bit steep; but is a gradual ascent until Huatiaq 4300m which is an optional Campsite then we have a break to eat something, after we start walking up to our next pass which is Tapush 4800m, from this pass the last 50 minutes only is downhill to get to Gashpapampa, which is our camping place, from here we can see the Diablo Mudo Mountain 5350 m. , if somebody want and decide, we can go to climbing it up, because is an easy mountain, good for beginners in ice climbing and has a very nice view from the top to see several mountains, this an optional tour.
Day 7: Gashpampa to Jahuacocha via Yaucha pass 4850m. And Cerro Huacrish
We follow the normal route and we go over the Punta Yaucha pass 4850 m., this is the last higher pass in Huayhuash, this pass it’s also a view point, that’s why we can see several mountains and if we are lucky we can also see Condor Andino flying over us, after the pass we go up a bit to the left and then we go down a bit to get to one of the last fantastic view point in Huayhuash trek which is the Cerro Huacrish, from here we can already see our last Camping Place in the deep valley; then we just walk down to Jahuacocha 4200 m. which is also very nice place and even good for having resting day, here we can also walk around the Jahuacocha Lake and visit the next lake too (Soltera Cocha) and of course go fishing and eat fresh Trout from the lake.
Day 8: Jahuacocha to Llamac- Hotel in Huaraz.
This is our last day, so we will share the last breakfast together in the morning and we start walking about 7:00 AM until Llamac Village, it takes about 6 hours to get there and aboard the private bus and come back to Huaraz city (4 hours), and transfer to hotel.
Day 9: Rest Day in Huaraz
Free day, you can choose what to do, such as going for a walk in the city or shopping.
Day 10: Huaraz- Yurac Corral 3870m. - Pisco Base Camp 4650 m.
From Huaraz city, we will take a private transport to the northeast to the place called Yuraccoral, the approximate travel time is 3 hours and along the way, you will be able to see incredible landscapes and fertile cultivation fields, as well as two beautiful lagoons: Chinancocha (lag. Female) and Orconcocha (lag. Macho) within the LLanganuco Valley, after 3 hours of travel we finally arrive at Yuraccorral, where we will start with our walk towards the base camp of Pisco mount, the walk lasts approximately 4 to 5 hours, along a path that ascends gradually to our first camp.
Day 11: Base Camp- Moraine Camp
After breakfast, we will start the ascent a first and small section, then we descend about 150 meters and cross some brunettes until we reach the moraine camp, from here we are closer to the glacier and to our final goal that is the summit of the Pisco mountain, this tour is not very long and it takes us an average of 3 hours of walking, so when we arrive at the camp we will have plenty of time to put the tents, rest, relax and prepare everything for the next day. From here we can appreciate magnificent views of some impressive peaks and be right at the foot of the gigantic Huandoy Mountain and Pisco Mountain
DAY 12: Moarine Camp- Summit- Base Camp
Today we begin our hike very early, we leave at 3:00 AM and crossing a path of brunettes to reach the glacier in half an hour, here we are going to put all the climbing equipment to start with our ascent towards the summit of the Pisco Mount. We pass very steep slopes with an inclination of 35-40 °. Once at the summit we will have impressive views of many peaks around us, including the imposing Chacraraju, Artesonraju (which is used as a Paramount Pictures logo), the 4 peaks of the Huandoy, Caraz, Huascaran, and even the Alpamayo that is known as the most beautiful mountain in the world and others. After a restful and relaxing break we will descend by the same way to the base camp. It will take us 7-8 hours approximately.
DAY 13: Base Camp- Yurac Corral- Huaraz
Today is our last day together in the mountain, so after the breakfast at the base camp of Pisco, we descend towards Cebollapampa and then we continue walking to Yurac Corral, where our transport will be waiting to bring back us to Huaraz City, after 3 hour driving we will arrive here and then transfer in your hotel.
